KRAS

What is the importance of Kras DNA analysis in colorectal cancer treatment ?

In early 2008, for the patients which are diagnosed with large intestine cancer 7 consisting parts of the Kras region review and the determination of treatment method to find genetic change became important.

Kras gene codon 12 and codon 13 in 2nd exon genetic variation lead to drug resistance in patients. Therefore, the investigation of this region can determine the treatment approach and this phenomenon is similar as in cancer of the head-neck area in terms of patient emphasis.

Since 2006, our center can detect all of Kras gene codon 12-13 mutations that play the most important role in the treatment of colorectal cancer.

In addition to the studies some researches identified at codon 61 in exon 2  and at codon 146 in exon 3 mutations of the Kras gene in patients with colorectal cancer in 2009 and this change determined the association of treatment response like codon 12 and codon 13 in 2nd exon.

In our center can detect all of Kras gene codon 12-13 (exon 1), codon 61 (exon 2) and codon 146  (exon 3) mutations that play the most important role in the treatment of colorectal cancer.
